An art gallery is host to the final work of a renowned artist, a priceless painting that becomes the focus of a private auction late one night at a gala event in Atherstone. Minutes after the painting has been sold, and the champagne has been poured, however, the winner of the auction is found murdered, and the painting missing. When the authorities discover the missing painting in the office of the gallery owner, Amelia is arrested, but for her assistant, Piper, nothing is adding up. Knowing that the culprit must have been in attendance, Piper requests the help of Victoria Radcliffe to solve this latest murder mystery, owing to her former sleuthing and deduction that had solved the cold case the previous year in “The Write to a Murder”.
